Day 1: MFWA 2014 // New Designers Show

Yesterday evening I also attended the New Designers Fashion Show in the evening at Casino Maltese. My camera was not appropriate for the lighting that was on location, and the photos I took with my phone did not turn out any good. So I will be using professional photos of photographers whose name I will be mentioning.

Edith
Natalie Bronfman developed a line for strong women who love clean cuts and elegance. The collection consisted of a mixture of colours, with the most vibrant, prominent colour being fuchsia.

Gremar
Having been in the Malta fashion scene for two years, Gremar's collection was all about experimentation with fabrics and textures. This is to make the clothes adaptable to the different shapes of the female figure. Black was the primary colour for the collection, which is the colour usually associated with hugging the female figure.

Marta Gomez Vidal
The Spanish designer's collection was all about vibrant hues and prints. Some of the neutral more toned down designs would be perfect for autumn, however where turquoise vibrant prints were included it definitely screamed summer for me.

Marco Parascandalo
My most favourite collection of the evening, Parascandalo Fashion took menswear to a whole new level, introducing androgyny with a Maltese twist. The collection exhibited urban inspirations from East London, combined with Maltese slang on some of the t-shirts.

Fransina
A gorgeous collection of easily wearable handbags with unusual fabric, combined with leather bits and metal frames - would definitely see myself wearing one of these bags in winter.

Churpina
Charlene Joan Sant's collection was all about pastel pieces, which are in for spring 2014. The pieces are fun and sort of doll-like, tea party material. This is evident when the designer herself comes out wearing two different pair of shoes at the end.

Mosca
Designer Aga Rusajczyk took Maria Azzopardi's monochromatic paintings and incorporated them into her designers. It's all about the fine detail in this collection. The skirt and pants instantly reminded me  of the trends from the Aldo SS14 launch -- Fly Society and 3D Energy, which include metallics, leather and shiny pieces.

Lukka
Luke Pizzuto's design inspiration was stimulated by the vintage style of East London, and the high-end designers that served as an inspiration for this Maltese designer were Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood. The primary colour was red, which is all about passion and energy.

Taia
Taia comprises two young designers, Alicia Schembri-Roslichenko and Mandy Farrugia, that brought a sophisticated collection with a different take on florals.

Celeste
Young designer Martina Spiteri has been inspired by the incorporation of different sensations, which is shown through the style and colour of her collection. Yet, her designers are aimed at the strong woman who although may decide to challenge the rule, chooses to remain elegant.

Poshet!
A handbag collection designed by Portugese designer Ana Nogueira. The designs are inspired by Nogueira's travelling experiences, incorporating different cultures through the different patterns and details.

Rosemarie Abela
A very conservative collection, displayed also through the colours being white, black and gold. The collection also has a vintage feel to it, and for a second it reminded me of the series Downtown Abbey.
